Another common name for the daffodil is the narcissus, which of course comes from Greek mythology. The myth states that after a water nymph's advance is rebuffed by the young and handsome Narcissus a curse is cast upon him that leads to his eventual demise after he falls in love with his own reflection. While the story is rather unpleasant the meaning of the daffodil in the language of flowers is much different than would be expected. The daffodil symbolizes chivalry and good regard. How could one be saddened by the sight of the daffodil and its trembling trumpet of bright yellow? Wordsworth once wrote:
The daffodil is a joyous flower whose bright yellow greets the eye each spring and reminds us that we are not alone in the world. The individual who wears the daffodil is the spring of their companions' seasons. The rich golden glow of the daffodil should echo the glow of the woman who wears this springtime piece for even in the darkest days of winter the memory and spirit of the daffodil is always present in our hopes and dreams for the future. The daffodil is made with a combination of yellow sapphires, yellow tourmaline, golden topaz, citrine, yellow jade, yellow chalcedony and gold. Yellow sapphire is linked to both royalty and the idea of immortality. Yellow sapphires are thought to aid the process of understanding as well as aiding the ability to process psychic intuitions. While tourmaline is linked to every chakra, the yellow is likened to the flow of healing golden light flowing through every part of the body and thus is a healing light facilitator. Golden topaz is otherwise known as Imperial Topaz aids in all forms of digestion from the digestion of food to the digestion of ideas or concepts. It is also helpful in the expression and assimilation of energy. Most importantly, golden topaz promotes well-being and consciousness that prosperity is having a sufficient amount for comfort rather than a gross abundance which exceeds and in many cases obscures comfort. Citrine is a type of quartz that is rich in colloidal iron, which gives it a yellow orange color. Citrine increases self-awareness and psychic abilities that are linked to the body's receptors while it also aids in the realization of life purpose. Citrine is a remarkable stone that influences and supports the expression of one's life force. Yellow jade symbolizes grace, charity and faith and is supposed to help alleviate all forms of sorrow. Yellow chalcedony is thought to dispel confusion and negativity while gold is a heart strengthener. The daffodil should bring waves of yellow joy and longing for spring to the woman who wearers it as well as to all who admire it. The individual who takes home the daffodil is one who brings joy to others simply by being a glorious person of soulful light. |

The Box The daffodil box is adorned with an opened daffodil flute made with citrine, yellow chalcedony, yellow sapphires, champagne colored pearls, and gold. The inside of the box is a tribute to bright yellow joy and all that the daffodil holds. The interior is lined with raw silk and Japanese hand screened paper. The daffodil box is a small reminder of the first glimpse of a half opened daffodil in the early months of spring and the joy that is to come when the buds are fully opened. The daffodil box should be placed anywhere in the home where the sun can shine her beautiful rays down upon it. |
